The Volunteer Centre of Fort Saskatchewan invites you to join in the 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge. Celebrate Canada's 150th Anniversary by giving back to your community. The Volunteer Centre invites all residents of Fort Saskatchewan to participate in the Canada 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge by contributing 150 hours of volunteer time in 2017 to celebrate Canada’s 150th anniversary. 

This initiative is nation-wide lead by Volunteer Ottawa in partnership with Volunteer Canada, and Volunteer Centres across the country. The Volunteer Challenge will engage tens of thousands in making a difference in the lives of Canadians. 

What is the goal of the Challenge?

The goal of this Challenge is to create a lasting legacy of volunteerism and collect profile stories of volunteerism across the country. Volunteering offers vital help to people in need, worthwhile causes, and the community. Volunteers shape their communities and enable non-profit organizations to deliver programs and services. 

Who qualifies?

  • Any resident of Fort Saskatchewan can participate in the 150 for 150 Volunteer Challenge.
  • All ages are welcome and encouraged to take part in this activity.

 

What kind of volunteering qualifies?

  • Volunteering can be formal or informal.
  • Formal Volunteering can be volunteering with a non-profit or charitable organization.

Informal Volunteering could include, shovelling snow for a neighbour, taking care of a neighbour's house while they are on vacation, helping a friend move, picking up garbage in a park, accompanying a senior to a Doctor's appointment or taking care of a friend's pet while they are away. We want to help you reach your volunteer goals. We also want to track the volunteer hours of Fort Saskatchewan residents to show the incredible impact that volunteers have on our community. All volunteer efforts are valued and meaningful. The Volunteer Centre will be recognizing and celebrating the volunteer contributions of our community volunteers.
