Volunteer Centre Fort Saskatchewan's New Digs

With fresh paint and brightly potted flowers, a 30-year local legacy has settled into its new home. Fort Saskatchewan’s Volunteer Centre had its official ribbon cutting and open house on June 19.

The new office is located at 10015-102 Street, just below the library in City Hall, or around the corner from the library doors on the back of the building. The area was formerly used by library staff for programming.

In 2013, the Volunteer Centre’s online survey tracked more than 138,000 volunteered hours in the Fort. At the volunteer appreciation event held in April, the mayor said it would cost the city more than $1 million in salaries and the city wouldn’t be able to afford to offer these programs if it were not for volunteers.

“We give to others not out of sense of obligation, but out of a sense of sincere appreciation for what our community has given us.” - Frank M Hubbard
